What was the Vietnam War? |
The start and reasoning behind the Vietnam is a sort of jumbled mess. One thing that is for certain is that the Latinx fighting in the war still did not get the recognition they deserved. In fact, the Latinx soldiers were not even recorded in soldiers that went off to war. Due to the lack of recordings it is hard to say how many Latinx died while serving in the United States military.
The Vietnam war was also a very disputed war that caused many different anti-war protesting. The war was not very popular by any means and some say the war was another white power tactic. The citizens of the United States protested with signs that said they did not want to fight another white mans war. During the war, many military men had children with Vietnamese women. However, just as Korea, the men left these women and their children. The children at times became orphans and also were subjected to criticism and prejudice for being of mixed race. |
