Natives in the Civil War |
Natives and Latinx played an important role in the outcome of the Civil War. Many Natives fought along side the Confederate side as well as the Union side. The success of many different battles was the result of the Native involvement such as the Battle at Pea Ridge. Without the added help from Natives, neither side would have had the success that they did. The Confederates as a result, signed a treaty with the Natives to gain and maintain allies.
During the Civil War, Latinx also played a significant role as they too fought alongside both sides in the war. A notable solider is Loreta Janeta Velazquez. Loreta posed as a man and helped in the success of many significant battles throughout the entire War. |
