What is the Judicial Branch? |
The Judicial Branch is known as the supreme court. There have only been 112 that have served in the supreme court since its creation because those chosen can serve life-long terms once appointed. Out of those 112, only 1 has ever been of Latinx origin and none have ever been of Native American or Asian Pacific decent. Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic to serve in Congress, was appointed in 2009 by President Obama. The supreme court is a high regarded position of power and it is alarming that there has been a lack of representation in appointed officials given the very diverse history of the United States.
